how to build zerolength element between two vertex with same location

Dear ASDEA professor,
I don't konw how to build "zerolengh element" between two vertex with same locations.
I read the old post you illustrate, and try to build zerolength element ,but I scan the node.tcl, additional node is added, and additional node is not belonged to any line element, it seems wrong.
my problem as follows:
how to build a zerolengthelement on the same vertex of two connected line.
1 select interaction, node to node ,assisgn it to the same vertex of two connected line
2 assign zerolengthelement to the interaction
3 additional nodes is added in the node.tcl, which is not belonged to the left/right line element.
would you please tell the right way of build zerolength element on the vetext with the same location?

Dear pan,

If you are trying to create an interaction between two overlapping nodes you can draw the node in a different location initially, then after you defined all the interactions move it back in the overlapping location.

If you are trying to model you beam with a lumped plasticity approach, check out this webinar on how to incorporate zerolength elements on one end of a beam.

Thanks for your reply.
I try your method, draw two lines in different location, assign the interaction, then move line to overlap two vertexes, but in the element.tcl file two extra nodes appear to defining the zerolength element as following pictures. this method doesn't work (although in Abaqus software it works).
my purpose is not to build a hingedbeam with a lumped plasticity .

Dear pan,

You do not need to create an interaction if you simply want to create a lumped beam, the geometries must be connected and merged, the zerolength is integrated in the physical properties definition.

Draw two lines, and create a wire with the Make Wire command selecting them both.
Then create the required materials and section you want to apply to the beam, and the zerolengthMaterial you want to assign at the nodes.

Finally you create a new physical property as special purpose > hinged beam > HingedBeamPP
and assign your zerolength to the nodes and your section to the beam property.
