Cyclic loading on a rectangular section including bondslip

Post by hussien » Tue Mar 24, 2026 3:50 pm

Hey,

i am trying to do a cyclic pushover test on a rectangular fiber section. i set it up with confined and unconfined concrete using concrete02, steel using steel02. bondslip material using a really high strain fiber section for the zero length element. but i am getting divergence issues and the cyclic results don't make sense. i attached the model, can you tell me what i could possibly be doing wrong?

Try this:

  • Smaller time steps
  • Stricter tolerance
  • More stable algorithm
Pay attention to the BondSlip material. It seems a bit unstable. Also using a residual compressive stress for concrete would make the section fully unstable. use a very small, but not zero, residual stress
