Incorrect Analysis

Post by mline41 » Mon Mar 03, 2025 7:34 pm

Hi,

I am modelling a soil-pile interaction.

I am not sure what is wrong with my model/analysis, please could you advise?

it looks like the boundary conditions aren't working correctly.

Model is attached.

Many thanks in advance.

Here attached is a working model, I am not sure what is different between the two models. Please note that the Piles have different geometries.

Hi,

I've reviewed your models and it appears the problem lies in how the soil's solid component is being handled. there's likely an inconsistency stemming from the soil geometry creation using the selection set. (Remember to ensure the "selection geometry" option is always enabled.)

The deformed shape of the incorrect model clearly shows the issue: there's no solid interior, only the outer shells are visible. This suggests a geometry creation error.

To rectify this, I recommend deleting the current soil solid geometry and recreating it using a direct, procedural method, rather than relying on selection sets for now (though you can do it using selection set). This can eliminate the existing inconsistencies.

Meantime, you can await for any other input from STKO Team. Thank you.

Some solids are overlapping (incorrect geometry)
