Modeling of steel bar

Dear STKOteam:

I want to simulate a 3D reinforced concrete beam.

I have a question about the building of steel bars.

Does the intersection of two steel bars affect the calculation? Just like in Figure 1.

If the center lines of two steel bars do not intersect but do intersect after being assigned a section, will it affect the calculation results? Just like in Figures 2 and 3.

Not in this case. The overlap, by the do not intersect (i.e. they do not share a common node at the intersection)

If the center lines of two steel bars do not intersect but do intersect after being assigned a section, will it affect the calculation results? Just like in Figures 2 and 3.

It will not affect anything, the section extrusion is just for visual purposes.
