Slow Database Loading
Slow Database Loading
Hi;
I have a strange problem. Sometimes result database is loading very slow. This usually happens when I want to open a database file created on a previous session of STKO. For example:
Open STKO
Analyze
Load Database >> No Problem (loading time is say it 30 seconds)
Close STKO
Open STKO Again
Load Same File >> Loads very slow (loading time is say it 8 minutes)
Thanks.

Re: Slow Database Loading
Dear Vefa,
this is really strange... Does it happen all the times? or only sporadically?

Re: Slow Database Loading
I made some tests and yes it is happening everytime if I want to load a db file created in a previous session. Loading time difference is huge.
One important thing I have noticed is HDD usage is around %95-100 when this problem happens. Normally hdd usage is %5-10 when loading a db file. Is it trying to read all the database files in a directory at the same time? (I made tests with MP, I didn't make any test with sequential)
If you need any other data please let me know.

Re: Slow Database Loading
This is really strange. If the first time you read the DB it was saved in a SSD (Solid State Disk) and then you moved it into a standard HDD, then it would make sense.
If this is not the case, try to open the System Registry Editor (type the regedit command in the windows search bar)
Then navitate to: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FTH\State
Post a screenshot of what appears on the right when you click on State

No, it's all on HDD from start to finish. Here is the screenshot:

Re: Slow Database Loading
So it's very hard to tell why it is doing that.
Please send me the MPCO files (if small) or send me the SCD (and I will generate the output MPCO). Just to see if I can reproduce this issue.

Re: Slow Database Loading
Correction: It is not about the files created in previous session, it is about the age of the files. I tried to open a file which I created today and there wasn't any problem but I tried another file which I created yesterday and the problem appears.

Re: Slow Database Loading
You can download the result files using this link:

Thanks.
Update: There is no problem if you move your files to SSD. Since it is working well on SSD, it is not mandatory for me to solve this problem. I just wanted to report this issue.

Re: Slow Database Loading
Do you mean that on an SSD you cannot reproduce the issue?Update: There is no problem if you move your files to SSD. Since it is working well on SSD
However it does not depend on STKO. At least I cannot reproduce the issue. On my SSD it takes about 6 seconds, while it takes 10 to 16 seconds on my secondary standard HDD.
Probably your HDD is almost full? that would make sense.
Re: Slow Database Loading
Yes.Do you mean that on an SSD you cannot reproduce the issue?
No sir there is nearly a 150GB empty space. This is the weirdest problem in my computer historyProbably your HDD is almost full? that would make sense.
Looks like I am the only person having this problem. It can be something about my hardware, a disk failure maybe... Anyway, SSD is working well. Thanks for your help.
