Grettings dear STKO team/Francesca,
I am trying to use the SFI-MVLEM for the same shearwall above, but I am having some errors, I think related to the mesh but I do not know how to fixe them. Maybe I am not following a correct workflow in the model and I cannot find where is the cause. Could you help me checking this model?

Hi Nelson,

We have never used that element.
In theory, you should apply to an edge not to a face, because as the error tells you, you need two nodes, not four.
It is in our plan to develop a tool to do exactly what you want to do, apply it to a panel and automatically transform that panel into a beam and use the SFI-MVLEM, but as of now it is not available.

Sorry if this does not help much, you can try using the tcl script generated by STKO to write your own OpenSees program, or just modify your geometry if you really want to use the SFI-MVLEM

Hello everyone,

Hope you are doing well. I have seen your post of LayeredShell for Shear Wall. I am not finding any procedure to find the thickness of the different layers of the shear wall. I have searched so many papers but didn't find the method for this. I request you to kindly help me with the mathematical procedure to evaluate the thickness of layers. @STKO @Nelson

There is no specific rule.
Only 2 guidelines:
1) the sum of all layers' thicknesses should be the total wall thickness
2) the more layer you have, the better is the approximation of the bending behavior. At least 5 layers.

I know this question is not related to STKO or OpenSees but still, I am asking as I didn't find the paper related to it anywhere.

I have one more doubt about how can we model the interaction of the shear wall and RC frame in case I go for non-linear time-history analyses?

Example given on this page doesn't consider the interaction between frame and shear wall.

You can compute the G modulus as E/(2*(1+poisson))

It really depends on what kind of interaction you want to model. In their example it is a concrete shear wall anchored with the frame, so probably the modeled the shell and the beams of the frame sharing the same nodes.
In case of infills instead you can model such interaction with contact elements.

But again, it really depends on what you want to simulate
