Dear Stko Team,
I have a question regarding the use of Damage TC1D. During one of the past webinars (Understanding the Problem of Strain-localization and Fracture-energy Regularization), Professor Massimo mentioned the use of stress-strain curve for compute the energy.
During the example (if I understand well), he uses this energy (computed with the stress-strain curve) and multiplies it by the length of the element and then activates the regularization for the material. In this context, I wanna mimic the process, but I would like to use the tool of the stko team share “utils_6.xls - Energy regularization spreadsheet”.
My question is if using this process (computing the energy using the spreadsheet and multiplies by the length of the element and then activate the regularization) would be correct?

Yes, you should multiply the specific fracture energy (gt or gc) with the characteristic length (Lc) of the finite element to regularize the fracture energy. If the stress-strain comes from laboratory test, it would be accurate if the specific fracture energy is multiplied with the length of the specimen - you need to enable the autoRegularization option in this case as STKO automatically calculates the fracture energy required by each finite element in the mesh.
