Problems to run RCjointmodel3d

Dear Stko,

I hope you are doing well.

I'm trying to run your model from previous webinar using the scissor model. I see that the model always have converging issues. I used your model to understand the process since I wanna apply to my own models.

Could you please guide me what is happening? I attached an screen about the error and also your model from the webinar.

I hope you are doing great!

After some modifications on the analysis (I add an adatptive step, and a little more iterations), your model seems to run! However, I'm using similar criteria to a minimal working example using the sections of my own model.

I have been trying the same as your model, but the converging issues appear again. Could you please check my mwe and tell me what I'm doing wrong please?

Hi, I observed following points in your model.
1] Are you sure about the pinching4 material properties for the joint? For example, you have 0.006 prior to 0.002 in the strain (or rotation here) definition! Please have a look at the monotonic response from material tester. I change it to 0.0006, assuming it a typo.
2] Use Penalty constraints for both the the analyses as we impose KPenalty for joint material and use rigidDiaphragm. In case of multiple definitions of multiPoint constraints, it is always recommended to use Penalty constraints.
3] Use IMP-EX algorithm for DamageTC1D material for better convergence. Please ensure Gc and Gt makes sense from the stress-strain curve of the concrete tests as you don't use autoRegularization option.
4] I changed some of the analysis settings to speed up the analysis for debugging purposes. Please check them and you need to modify them accordingly.

I will check your suggestions. I have one question. How do you define the penalty? It is just that I have been using the avarage of EleStiffnessOOM. I was taking a quick look, and you go a little up from the maximum. Could you please give me some tips here?

Hi, It would suggest to set the penalty parameters of analysis settings to 3 to 5 order higher than the order of the average stiffness from the OOM script.
