ASD contact fails to converge
ASD contact fails to converge
Dear STKO Team:
I have encountered a problem and have to ask for your help. When I use the bound contact, the model works fine. However, when I use the ASD contact, the model has a strange phenomenon of the pile falling off when the values of Kn and Kt are small, and the model does not converge when the values of Kn and Kt are large, I have tried all the previous parameters, but I still cannot reach an ideal state. Can you help me to change it? I have provided the attachment.
Best wishes
Ambcha

Re: ASD contact fails to converge
Dear STKO team.
Can you please tell us when the linux version of your STKO software is expected to be available on the official website? We are calculating large models and using our own server to process the data is very slow and we would like to place it on top of supercomputing so that the models calculated by supercomputing do not have to be downloaded again.

Re: ASD contact fails to converge
There are some mistakes:
- The interaction for the contact at the base of the pile MUST HAVE a master which is the BOTTOM VERTEX of the pile, not the pile itself.
- And you forgot to assign the local axes with the -Z contact direction to this interaction
Re: ASD contact fails to converge
Thanks for your reply, I know what my problem is, if possible can you help me to remove the model attachment and if anyone needs the model I will provide it by email.
1. In addition, I would like to know when you expect to add the localForce or globalForce records to your post-processing process? It is very inconvenient to analyse the internal force of elastic material structures without this record.
2. Can you provide an option for the output file of python records in RunAnasys, as the current default is tcl, which needs to be converted to python and requires secondary processing?
3. In addition, can you tell us the expected time for the linux version of the STKO software to come online?

localForce is already available. You can look at them using the Beam Diagram PlotIn addition, I would like to know when you expect to add the localForce or globalForce records to your post-processing process? It's something we will do in the future, as soon as we are sure everything is working fine also in python (for example all parallel versions)2. Can you provide an option for the output file of python records in RunAnasys, as the current default is tcl, which needs to be converted to python and requires secondary processing?
We are working on it, but we don't have a precise date3. In addition, can you tell us the expected time for the linux version of the STKO software to come online?
Re: ASD contact fails to converge
Dear STKO team.
Thanks for your help, STKO is a great help for OPenSees users, but regarding the extraction of the cell record data, the SKTO software post-processing only provides Gaussian points, which are very friendly for concrete structures. Regarding the local forces STKO website provides provides a cloud map, but provides any extraction method in ChartData, which is a pity, because for offshore wind researchers, the most used is the linear elastic structure, I hope SKTO company can add a new localFoce or global force extraction function in ChartData, I tried to use PyMPC but it is not very convenient. We have also tried other HDF formats to open the files but they are too cumbersome. the purpose of the STKO software is to save time for the user, if possible can this feature be added in the next version, for which we can pay a part of the cost.
Best wishes

Re: ASD contact fails to converge
Yes it's on our to-do list. It requires a bit more time, because selecting the element's end-nodes can be difficult (due to the adjacency of the elements) so we are thinking on how to simplify this selection for users
Re: ASD contact fails to converge
Thank you for your patience in answering my questions and I look forward to seeing the new version soon!
