Viscous link modeling

Post by felicegiordano95 » Thu Jul 08, 2021 8:02 pm

Hello everyone and thank you for your attention.
I am trying to model a structure that has viscous connections, but in the modeling of the viscous link it is possible to give only axial stiffness and the coefficients C and alpha to characterize the connection and therefore I have not been able to give a correct stiffness of the other two global directions . I am trying, unsuccessfully, to use the TwoNodeLink element. I had already modeled with SAP but it was possible to characterize the link in the three global directions, on STKO I can't give the mechanical properties to the link in the other two directions.I am attaching the google drive link where I uploaded a basic model where I used viscous links.https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharingThanks for your help

The 2-node-link material allows you to input more than 1 uniaxial material... In fact, you can input 1 uniaxial material for each DOF.

Thank you very much for the answer, the question at this point was if I could only prevent the movements in the directions I want and I cannot indicate a precise stiffness.

OK so if you share a sketch of what you would like to model, we can show you how to do it properly

Hi here is a simple model file where I tried to use viscous links.
Thanks for your help
