Question about TwoNodeLink

Post by luckypants » Wed Jun 17, 2020 6:35 pm

Dear STKO Team:

I have question about TwoNodeLink element.

I use uniaxialMaterial Elastic.

Physical Property -> Special Purpose -> TwoNodeLink Material->TwoNodeLink Material
Element Property -> Link_elements -> TwoNodeLink

After I build my TwoNodeLink element, I build mesh and write input file.

There is a error message:element must be "Interaction" and not "Edge"

How could I solve the problem?

Any advices and helps that you provide are highly appreciated.

dear User,
TwoNodeLink doesn't work on line geometry. Interaction must be defined.
Click on new interaction on interaction tab, select Node To Node Link on interaction type list and then select master and slave nodes.
Once interaction are created, TwoNodeLink material and property has to be applied.
Please let us know if you have other problem. We are here to help.
Have a nice day.

Dear STKO Team:

After I create the interaction, TwoNodeLink still doesn't work.

I have selected master and slave nodes, and then add TwoNodeLink material and property.

But it still doesn't work, and there is the same error message.

How could I solve the problem?

Thank you for your help.

dear User,
probably both geometry and interaction were select when element property was applied. You can use select buttons on the top of the view in order to select only geometry or only interaction.
If our advise doesn't solve the problem, you can post the model here and we will look at it.
Have a nice day

Dear STKO team:

I also selected both geometry and interaction and applied, but it still not worked.

model basic -ndm 2 -ndf 2

node 1 0 0
node 2 0 1 -mass 1 1

fix 1 1 1

uniaxialMaterial Elastic 1 2
element twoNodeLink 1 1 2 -mat 1 -dir 2

eigen -fullGenLapack 2

Above the model is which I practice building by STKO, and I also put the model here.

Thank you for your help

dear user,
like we said before, twoNodeLink were applied both on geometry and interaction, but it is necessary to apply it on the interaction only.
On the attached model we defined an elastic beam and a elastic section to apply on geometry, but is necessary to insert righ parameters.
In addition we add rotational degree of freedom on constraint and twoNodeLink because elastic beam column has it.
We also add our eigenvalue script so you can see eigenvalue results on a txt file. It is possible to change the mode vibration number at the end of the TCL file.
More information about it are shown in the following link.

Please, let us know if you need anything.
Have a nice day.
