Is there a method?

Post by earlarmstrong » Thu Apr 25, 2024 7:59 am

Hi, I'm looking to carry out a static analysis under varying loads (for instance, 10kN, 15kN) while keeping the load's position constant. Is there a method to manage this without needing to set up a new model for every different load? I tried using the LoadCost command to run multiple analyses on a single model, but it seems like the effects of the loads are accumulating through each analysis phase, rather than being limited to their respective analysis.

Hi, You can use multiple analysis in parallel mode by OpenSeesMP, sending each load value to a processor ". Discussion found in the following link can be useful.

If instead you want to apply the sequentially on your model, like in multiple analyses, but you don't want the current load to affect the next analysis, first you don't have to keep the previous load constant, second, you have to remove the loadPattern and apply a new one (this is necessary only if the "layout" of the load changes, not only its intensity).

probably it's easier if you post an example of what you would like to do and we will check for mistakes
