Random_Peaks_Displacement_Output

Post by Zouatine » Thu Nov 23, 2023 5:03 pm

Dear Stko Users,

Model Discreption :
I have created a model in STKO , which is 4 stories building with a thick shear wall interior and exteriors , the element used was multilayer shell element , where the materials (concrete and reinforcement) were modeled to behave nonlinear.

Running Analysis Cases :
I have performed modal, gravity analysis + Time History Analysis in the y direction ,and they are all running without convergence issue.

Issue :
I did record the displacement and the accelerations at each story level , in addition to i recorded the displacement at the base for the purpose of verification (if the input is matching the output at the base ), this step seems to be also fine .

However when i plotted the relative displacement (=record at stories-base record), i am getting output that i am not able to understand , some random peaks at a certain time :!: of the ground motion record are occuring as it is showing in the following figure (represent the displacemnt of SLAB03).

After having this , i watched closly the output files , and it seems that the output files are not generated correclty , the next show an expl of the second slab displacement output :

I have tried alot but i was not able to know the reason , Can anyone please help with this issue :?:

i attached the model for you reference,

Your help is much appreciated,

Don't use text recorders with OpenSesMP! all processor will try to write to the same files, and without sync they will contain garbage.
Use the MPCORecorder and extract data from the post processor, it will be much easier

Thank you for your given time to make a suggestions ,

After i did work with your recommendation it appeared the results seems to be fine now like the following fig :

However, my intention later is to perform some fragility analysis where several time history analysis should be peromed , and damage criteria has to be verified using IDA , and so on, so i thought in the beginnering it is easier to get the output as a txt file then some code will check the damage critera and run the analysis again.

I can not everytime check the post processor , And using OpenSees SP is time consuming , what could be your suggestion in this case :?:

Thank you,

In this case, I would suggest to check on this forum topics related to parametric analyses. You will find that some users are using the Python API, and some others are using a Tcl script to put the analysis in a loop. In both cases you just need to parametrize the input motion based on some criteria
