The interface between soil and tunnel structure in two-dimensional model

Post by [email protected] » Wed Dec 14, 2022 9:22 am

HI STKO,
Thank the stko official for giving a forum to discuss issues. i want to ask a question about ssi contact

I built a two-dimensional model, which is a box tunnel buried in the soil
Because it is necessary to monitor the pore water pressure in soil under dynamic load, I use quadup element to simulate soil
However, since the quadup unit is 3DOF and the structural unit is 2DOF, I cannot use zerolength element to connect the soil and structure, and I do not want to directly consolidate the soil and structure with equalDOF
Is there any good method to simulate the contact between soil and structure

best wishes
teddy

You can define contact between parts with different DOFs with our new ZeroLength Contact Element.
