Soil-Wall contact

Dear STKO,

I am modeling a contact between basement wall (shell element) and adjacent soil (BrickUP element).
I used :
+ interaction: Node to Element Link (master: wall, slave: soil surface next to wall)
+ zerolengthcontatcASDImplex, Kn=10E_soil, Kt=10G_soil.
Some non-convergences occured during structural load application (using adaptive time step with very small factor)
+ Duration of loading: 10^4s , number of step: 100. cFactor for load: 10^-4
Is my model correct? what is the problem and how can I solve it?

Even if everything is correct, contact is very tricky

its really heavy.
However, I have a question: Is there any problem if I change master: soil side, slave: wall? it runned well, but im not sure if it is correct in terms of the orders of master and slave.

In surface-surface contact, there is this rule:
the coarser mesh is the master, the finer is the slave.

In this way, every slave is in contact.

Pay attention also to the contact direction, it should point from the master to the slave

It means that the this direction (master to slave) must point toward +Z global direction in general and +Z local direction if local axis is assigned?
For example: in the soil-basement wall contact, If I use master=soil, slave=wall, and use "node to element links", "from element" type. In this case, the contact direction (1) between left wall and left soil is coincidence with +X global direction, but the contact direction (2) between right wall and right soil is coincidence with -X global direction. what should I do to consider contact direction correctly?

In the webinar 24, what I understand is that the contact direction must be paid attention only in case of using "local axis", and master-to-slave direction must coincide with the +Z direction (global or local), for other types (node to element, rigid link), no need to pay attention to the contact direction. Is it correct?

Exactly, only if you use Node-to-node and "From Local Axes" option you have to follow the rule:
The contact normal is the Z axis of the LocalAxes
