Analysis did not converge

Post by sribeiro » Sat Mar 25, 2023 12:26 pm

Hi everyone!

I was preparing a fiber section model and for that I was using as a reference the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lLeIZpLwlQ&t=34s

However, when I run my model, the .exe window says it does not converge.

Can someone help me find error?

Here's a fixed file:

It was singular from the beginning because you forgot to input -GJ (if in 3D you leave it as 0, your beam will be singular in torsion)
Now it will run for some steps and then it will stop converging because parts of your beam are crushing (and you did not put any steel in there):

Thank you very much!

Yes I didn't put any steel because the idea is to create an homogenised section (steel into concrete) for an easier analyses.
Do you think that will bring problems to the model and its results?

You can do it. But you will have to define a uniaxial material that contains both concrete and steel accounting for their volume fractions. You can use the parallel uniaxial material for this
