Assign Moment-Curvature curve to plastic Hinge?

Post by JeferssonReyes » Tue May 30, 2023 8:39 pm

Good morning, In OpenSees it is possible to implement the "Plastic Hinge" concentrated plasticity model, and when doing the nonlinear analysis, the user enters the idealized moment-curvature (according to CalTrans)?

The moment-curvature is idealized by CALTRANS:

Check beginners webinars here:

We have 2 types of lumped plasticity:

Lumped in a finite length using moment-curvature (curvature will be integrated by the FEM code in the finite length of the plastic hinge)

Lumped in a zero Length using moment-rotation (you have to input the rotation as a curvature integrated over the plastic hinge length, because now you don't have this physical length in your model)
