Assigning two different sections to a same structural member

Post by Asad005 » Fri Mar 06, 2020 2:57 pm

Is it possible to assign two different sections to the same member of a structure like If someone likes to assign two sections (with different spacing of the stirrups) to a beam?
I have a beam in which the spacing of the stirrups varies along the length, as a result, the beam needs to be divided into two parts with different spacing for the stirrups.

What will be the procedure to do so? Thanks

When you define the BeamSectionProperty, you can choose the integration scheme. The default Lobatto uses the same section at every integration point.
If you want different sections at each integration point, you need to choose "UserDefined" option. there you can choose the number of integration points, their normalized position (from 0 to 1) and their weigth (whose sum should be 1).
