Pushover analysis (no softening)

Post by giom » Wed Apr 26, 2023 1:54 pm

Hello everyone!

I'm using STKO to study the behavior of an infill mansonry walls. In addiction to vertical analysis, I want to do pushover analysis using "parallel displacement control". The analysis starts but it stops at about 80%. In particular, it seems that the analysis cannot compute the softening (as you can see in the monitor).

Can you help me to fix this problem? How can I find the solution?

Attached .sdc file, analysis text and monitor.

Look at the output:

You forgot to assign Local Axes (that you correctly created) to the contact interactions. In this way they are using the default (Global) axes. Therefore, the bottom contact (which has a Z vector that correctly points toward the slave nodes) is working...

Thank you for the answer!

Yes, I forgot to assign the local axes. I'm sorry.

However, now the horizontal analysis is not yet completed, rather it stops immediately already in elastic phase. In particular, a "warning" (related to ForceBeamColumn3D) is reported and analysis stops about to 3%.

What can I do to eliminate the "warning"? What is the reason?

Thank you very much for your work.

Try using the ASDShellQ4. For some reason when you reach the peak, the ShellMITC4 returns NAN
