SP constraint

Post by Filip » Mon Sep 23, 2019 12:23 pm

Dear all,

I have a problem defining the constraints. Following the user manual, i open the condition editor, chose sp - fixed condition, apply on the model and close the window. The analysis finishes but i get some free movement of the columns. Additionaly, when i open the .tcl files the command fix $tag $DOF is not shown leading me to conclusion that something is wrong.
This is case with eigen analysis...
fig 1 shows that, according to me, the constrains are assigned but not taken into account :?:

Dear Filip,

Constraints (SP and MP) and Loads are defined under Condition, BUT NOT added to the analysis automatically.
It's in the AnalysisStep session that you define how and when Conditions are added to the analysis. Why?
You may need to add certain constraints and loads for the first analysis (say a gravity analysis) and then add other horizontal loads (say for a push over analysis).

So in the AnalysisStep session you need to create a Constraint pattern (in your case) and choose what conditions (SP and/or MP) to add to the analysis. If you define loads in Conditions, you need to do the same for loads using a load pattern.
