Shear in a gauss plot

Post by Telec » Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:57 am

Hello,
In the post processor how can I display the shear values in a gauss plot? I used a section aggregator with an elastic linear model. In the MPCO record I have selected the following checks:
stko.PNG
stko.PNG (10.09 KiB) Viewed 1870 times
but then in the post processor, selecting a gausplot - section force, I can't see the shear values. By selecting a surface color map - section force, I don't see anything on the shear.
thanks

OT: for the elastic constitutive bond to be adopted for the visualization of the shear in the aggregator, must the value of G or the value of GA be entered?thx

What you are doing is correct:
use a section aggregator with a shear law (however its stiffness should be GA, not G!), and plot the output of section.force.Vy or Vz in the gauss plot or in the surface plot.

We just realized that there could be a bug in the OpenSees code for the dispBeamCOlumn, in the sense that the results are correct (also the element nodal forces), but the output of the sectional forces are not correct. I will investigate with the opensees developers on this.

In the meantime use the force-beam-column and let me know
