Re: Question about finding an error

Sometimes we've experienced this error in OpenSeesSP and/or OpenSeesMP. If you look closely, you will notice that the cut you see there, corresponds to the borders of your partitions... don't know why it happens sometimes with large models, but it's somehow related to the constraint handler: Transfo...

Re: Pushover analysis error

I've just seen your model, it is singular because your second geometry (travetti) is detached from the other. One more question, you are using the SurfaceLoad utility on a shell which is physically modelled... If you model the slab then you need to use the FaceForce, while the SurfaceLoad is applied...

Re: OOP Micromodeling of Masonry Wall

Actually it's quite hard to explain... The original implementation of the ShellMITC4 had a full integration for the drilling DOF (rotational dof about the shell normal axis). This full integration leads to overstiffening of membrane behavior and prevents strain localization. As a small workaround, w...

Re: OOP Micromodeling of Masonry Wall

However, for the model in the discussion, MITC4 without -updateBasis seems to perform well. It performs fairly well, but if I got it correctly, it should be Graph4, the one that is overestimating the force? Also, they only huge difference you see here, is in the post peak regime, (after a displacem...

Re: Pushover analysis error

Are you referring to "How to assign horizontal loads for a pushover if you don't have a rigidDiaphragm"?
It really depends on your structure, and it is not a numerical issue.. it is more a theoretical one

Re: Pinned Connection

Dear user, for pinned connections between the beams of the dome you can use the HingedBeam automation that we have in STKO. Basically with this automation, you can choose the I-end and J-end higes... they can be completely released in some DOFs or you can put any linear/nonlinear material to define ...

Re: Shear behaviour modelling

Dear user, this tool is an automation used to speed-up the modelling of columns. However, we are still working on it, it is there as a beta-version for internal tests, that's why we did not put any documentation about it.

We will make a webinar on it as soon as it is ready

Re: Modelling varying reinforcement along the element

Dear user,
OpenSees allows for UserDefined integration rule, where you can specify the number of integration points, their position, and their weights.
However you need to understand how an integration rule works.
Is this what you are looking for?
