Re: Modelling infills in RC frame

I think this is a degree of freedom problem. Truss elements don't have rotation degree of freedom so if you want to connect a truss and a frame you have to add EDOF's I think.

Re: soil-structure interaction continuum model

Hi Dear Miran;

Thanks for the answer. So is it ok if I calculate it with Kt = E/2(1+v) formula, using soil young modulus and poisson ratio?

Thanks.

Re: soil-structure interaction continuum model

Hi.

ContactMaterial3d has an "interface stiffness" parameter. Is it the normal stiffness or the shear stiffness of soil? Also, can we use soil's cohesion as "interface cohesive intercept" parameter?

Thanks.

Re: Force Response History of Elastic Sections

That's a great way to solve it. It was hard to work with custom recorder. Thanks.

Force Response History of Elastic Sections

Hi;

Is there any way to extract time-force history data from elastic elements? There are only nodes, Gauss points and fiber options in extract data menu.

update: solved this adding a custom recorder command. If there is a more convenient way please share.

Thanks.

Re: Interface Between Soil & Pile

As soon as I remember, I have never used unbalance. I have changed my model a little bit, it seems it works fine now. But when you select Krylov, modified newton etc.. it has convergence issues. Only Newton works well. I have two more questions: 1. When you specify a "rho" value in pressureIndepentM...

Re: Interface Between Soil & Pile

Hi; I am trying to make a simple soil-pile model. I want to connect my piles to soil with ZL elements which has Elastic No Tension material. But when I do this, system becomes unstable and OpenSees gives an error. When I remove those ZL elements, system becomes stable again. There is a picture which...

Interface Between Soil & Pile

Hi everyone; I am trying to create 2D and 3D SSI models and I want to model piles. A drawing is attached which explains my model briefly. There is a NL pile element, zero length (with no tension material) interface elements connects pile to soil. I guess I have to add EDOFs between soil and my ZL el...
