Re: Convergence error

Some of the faces have a normal vector pointing downward (-Z direction). In 2D analysis this is not allowed, as it leads to a negative Jacobian (inverted area).

Use the Reverse command to make sure all faces have a coherent normal vector pointing along the positive Z directio [0,0,1]

Re: running multiple time histories

1. Instead of defining the time series within STKO. Can we export the time series from a particular folder with different dt and total time. Of course you can, the Path time series also accepts a file path. 2. You have used the processor id to define the particular time series, which is good in the...

Re: Help in deciding mesh and step size

do you think the time-step size in the IMPL-EX algorithm also has such an effect The time-step size has an influence on the IMPL-EX algorithm, due to the Explicit part of the IMPL-EX algorithm. At the moment you can do a convergence study to understand how it influences the response. Probably you w...

Re: Help in deciding mesh and step size

As you can see here, refining the mesh converges to an (almost) unique solution. "Almost" because: The stable part (until the peak) converges to a unique value, while in the post-peak regime, there is a larger scatter, and this makes sense because once the system becomes unstable, the finer is the m...

Re: Help in deciding mesh and step size

Keeping every other parameters, I observed that the peak strength depended on the mesh size, as well as the "number of "increment" or the "load step-size" in the analysis option. Following are the specific questions treating the mesh size and the number of increment independently In FEM, it is norm...

Re: SOIL STRUCTURE INTERACTION + MODAL ANALYSIS

Dear user, There were 2 mistakes: You have many overlapping constraints. In this case, the Transformation handler may not work. So you need the Penalty. In your case, 1.0e14 is a good penalty number. However, in order to use the Penalty and not the default (transformation) for the Eigen, you need a ...

Re: soil structure interaction

I have been working lately on performing several analyses. I have found out that owing to the characteristics of my structure and soil, my building's performance is not affected by the SSI effects... You were right. Ok, we were expecting that. I have also been working on improving the modal analyse...
